My latest vSphere Upgrade Saga is about upgrading server hardware. I don’t mean simply replacing components or adding more memory—I mean full server replacements. This was not my first full server replacement, but it was by far the easiest. Perhaps it is now more a science than an experiment.
VMware vRealize Suite products have been upgraded to version 8.0. These major updates forced an update of my entire management portfolio for vSphere. I ended up upgrading not just vRealize Suite, but also NSX-V, vCenter, Horizon View, and my Unified Access Gateways (UAGs). This vSphere Upgrade Saga was a comprehensive update of all subsystems.
My latest vSphere 6.7 upgrade issues were troublesome, frustrating, and problematic. VMware Update Manager (VUM) would not update a host. All the install instructions for the latest VMware PowerCLI say to use the Install-Module cmdlet. Unfortunately, on stock 2012R2, this cmdlet does not exist. Therefore, getting to the latest PowerCLI is nearly impossible. There are, however, several solutions.
I use VMware NSX-V to provide security services for my virtual environment: edge gateway and distributed firewall.
