It has now been a couple of weeks since VMworld 2016 came to a close in Las Vegas, Nevada. That has given me some time to ponder about what I saw, as well as what I heard, during that week in Vegas and I have to say my biggest take away was that VMworld 2016 was the year that seemed to really have more of a vibe about network and storage virtualization.
VMworld 2016: Tufin Orchestration Suite
The VMworld 2016 conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, gave a great deal of attention to both NSX and security this year. While walking around the Solution Exchange floor, I had the opportunity to stop and talk with Tufin about its Tufin Orchestration Suite, which orchestrates security polices across complex, hybrid cloud, and physical environments.
Takeaways from VMworld 2016
My thoughts and take away’s from the VMworld 2016 Conference at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas Nevada. First let me say that Las Vegas knows how to really cater and the conference food this year was an absolute joy and a succulent treat when in comparison to the past years the conference has been in San Francisco. No box lunches this year and that was such a “huge” change that the conference food gets the first shout out about the conference.

Microsoft Open-Sourced PowerShell
In case you have not heard the news, Microsoft recently announced that the company is open sourcing PowerShell and will be bringing PowerShell to both Linux and OS X. Actually that is just part of it in that it is not just PowerShell that Microsoft has open sourced, but rather the .NET framework as well as the PowerShell Editor Service and making it available for Linux and OS X at the PowerShell GitHub repository.

Time for the annual pilgrimage, although this year is a little different in that the destination this year is The Mandala Bay Hotel in Las Vegas Nevada for VMworld 2016. After several years of San Francisco hosting the pilgrimage, we finally get a change of scenery. With the change of scenery this year, comes some changes in the advice for this year.
