Bromium have released vSentry 1.1 which will brings Bromium’s benefits of micro-virtualization and hardware based security to a far wider range of enterprise desktops. New features include wider OS Support: Live Attack Visualization and Analysis (LAVA) and the Bromium Management Server. There are still components of an enterprise desktop strategy that aren’t accommodated, but vSentry 1.1 has components that broaden the use cases deploying Bromium’s trustworthy computing service and expand the capabilities for those managing the service.

On the 11/1 Virtualization Security podcast we had no special guest but continued a conversation started at Hacker Halted this year. It is the ongoing question of whether or not Going to the cloud will cause jobs to be lost. The typical answer was stated at Hacker Halted, that people will need to cross-train with new products, etc. and then they would keep their jobs, but someone stood up and shouted out that this was hogwash. Citrix Remote PC: VDI complexity solved, or a kick start to a VDI project?
Delivering VDI can be an expensive and time consuming undertaking. Especially when the business case is limited to remote access. There are solutions allowing remote access to a desktop/laptop device: Citrix’s own GoToMyPC has competition from the likes of LogMeIn, Teamviewer, TightVNC and YuuGuu. However, there is always concern about introducing such solutions in terms of “who now has access?”, and “how do we manage it?”. With Citrix Remote PC organisations can have centralized control over services such as printing, clipboard, and local drive access as well as automated provisioning of PC to end-users, combined with the high performance and client compatibility of Citrix HDX.
