Microsoft RDSH service grows ever more feature rich, Citrix XenApp is still a de facto standard although there are many RDSH tools available today. The goal for vendors is to make the delivery of applications and workspaces simple and efficient – in terms of time and resources. To integrate VDI and RDSH together and blend those with “traditional” solutions. As of today, VMware only VDI. RDSH would enhance the solution again and provide more direct competition to Citrix. Is PCoIP enough? How will Teradici’s release integrate with View?

VMworld 2012: First Thoughts and Observations

Now that VMworld 2012 is well underway I wanted to share some of my first thoughts and observations about the conference. At the start of the conference, during the first General Session, the virtual passing of the torch from the outgoing CEO, Paul Maritz to the new incoming CEO, Pat Gelsinger took place with Mr. Gelsinger getting his opportunity to say hello to a crowd of around twenty thousand people that are present at the show.

There are several improvements in virtual networking and security within the latest vSphere and vCloud products. vCloud Networking and Security lowers of the overall cost to implement endpoint security within a vSphere environment. VMware has accomplished this by including vShield Endpoint into vSphere. There by lowering the cost to offloaded antivirus and malware to just the product chosen to implement antivirus and antimalware.
