AppSense StrataApps – to self install apps, or not to self install apps, that is the question

AppSenseLabs have released StrataApps, their long anticipated User Managed Applications Solution. We’ve discussed before that User Installed Applications, as a function, are often unloved and unwanted. And yet, almost every organization has a group of applications that fall outside the standard set that are administered and supported by IT. Unlike existing Application Virtualisation solutions, StrataApps doesn’t require that applications be installed in a clean environment or sequenced by IT staff.

AppSense DataLocker gives Dropbox more security hints at the beginning of the end for VDI?

AppSense Lab’s DataLocker’s first release offers a method of encrypting and decrypting files to allow secure storage in cloud services. This is a new direction for AppSense – with support for win32/win64 platforms, but also Mac and iOS. At the Synergy Barcelona 2011 event last week Citrix positioned themselves to deliver on just that.

Citrix and Quest get serious about Application Compatibility

This week we saw the announcement of two very similar acquisitions. Quest Software announced on October 24 that they were acquiring ChangeBASE and on October 26 Citrix Systems announced they were acquiring AppDNA. Both solutions provide application compatibility testing for the Windows platform.

AppSense Targets User Installed Apps
